Stefan Breuer (also an active member of Lost Bear and I Am Oak) has been writing, recording and performing as The Subhuman since he was eleven. Always looking for a combination of melody and spacey arrangements, The Subhuman has released lots of records with (sometimes very short) bedroom-indiepop songs. His tunes are sad, hopeful and witty at the same time, with hints of lo-fi, progrock, pop, and electronic music. A World Full Of Melodies (2007) marked the beginning of a collaboration with Snowstar Records, followed by the beautiful 7″ Sur La Route (2009), on which he worked with his French friends from Calc: Julien Pras and David Lèspes. Latest achievement is the poppy Planet Buddha, featuring the song Don’t Push Me Away (#2 Song-Of-The-Year of 3voor12/Utrecht). Besides doing shows in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, he continued recording for art projects and records like Life After Death and All Birds Dream Of Being Human (with The Things We Are). And sometimes putting The Subhuman on hold for a while… Or forever.
